The Big Day!

Can you believe this girl is 5 years old? I know I can't! We had a wonderful day celebrating. This morning Quay and MungBean and I went to the playground and then walked over to the deli for lunch (yum!). Then while MungBean took his nap Quay and I decorated cupcakes (they're purple roses and ladybugs) and hung streamers for her Purple Party. And boy was that party a doozy!
Here's a shot of the kids playing colored eggs. Wow, what a lot of kids, right? Ha! That's not even all of them that came! There were 15 kids all together. (By the way, never again!)

These pictures (up and down) are of the kids rocking out to "Purple People Eater" in a rollicking game of freeze dance.

And here you can see how a nice game of drop the hankie....

somehow evolved into everyone run around the backyard:

Thank goodness for the warm weather so we could play in the backyard! This would never have worked inside! It was a fun party, even though it had a higher than usual casualty list (one bloody nose, one skinned knee, one potty accident, many tears, one minor brawl, and one declaration from a disgruntled party-goer that this was "the worst party ever!!!") Seriously, though, I know Quay had a great time with her friends, I had a lot of fun watching them play, and everyone went home with a smile, so I'd call the party a success.
After the festivities wound down we had QuayQuay's favorite chicken curry for dinner and then opened family presents. It was hard to tear the kids away from all the loot for bed, but I have no doubt they'll be up at the crack of dawn to get back to all those toys.
Happy Birthday QuayQuay!!!

Happy birthday to Quay-Quay. She also shares it with K. Next, are you insane? 15 kids? That is a whole lot of kids. Yes, I would stick with the never again policy. Our kids can have the number of friends that is the age they are turning, for instance, 5. That's only true for 5 though, after that they can only bring 4 because we are usually going somewhere in a car and they all need to fit. When they are teens they can up it again. I barely make it through a party with 6 kids, so good on you on that one.
