Backyard Campout!

As a prize for reading chapter books this summer, Babs earned a backyard campout for herself and Quay. This is something the girls have been wanting to do for years. Munkus and I scratch our heads at that... we're so not outdoorsy! I don't know why our kids are! Anyway, we borrowed this tent as we don't have one of our own and the girls roughed it out under the stars. We microwaved s'mores, read Harry Potter, watched the stars come out, and then the girls read to themselves by flashlight in the tent. They actually slept out there all night and had a wonderful time. Fun fun fun!

that is SO awesome! And I love that they were rewarded with a wonderful EXPERIENCE that I'm sure they'll remember forever! SO much better than trickety toys or other bribes that I've been known to use. Thanks for the great idea!

Well, not that there aren't toys and stuff too as rewards, but I agree, the experience ones are better. :)

We are thinking of doing this kind of campout this summer, too. I am just not up to real camping right now.

"Roughing it" for me is Hershey SPA! You want to go? I'm glad you got some fun in before the barfs came to your family. PS - your prizes are SO much better than the library prizes!!!

I think Girls Camp was better but still, it was fun at the time
