Happy Birthday to Me!

I had a fun birthday yesterday. I started the day doing some of my least favorite things: waking up early, leaving the house before 7:30 am, and driving an unfamiliar car (I had to take the van in to the body shop and drive a rental car home... ugh). On the way home the kids and I stopped for one of my favorite breakfasts: McDonald's. Say what you will, I love me a sausage egg and cheese mcgriddle. Yum! I ordered a Deluxe breakfast for the kids to share and they ate pretty much all of it, and the rest they reduced to crumbs and spread out evenly on every surface with which they came in contact. The highlights of the meal were MungBean attempting to stuff an entire pancake in his mouth and Quay drinking the syrup out of the little bowl.

In the afternoon MungBean took a long nap (yay!) and the girls mostly played by themselves/watched tv so I got to read and chat on the phone with friends and family which are about my favorite ways to spend the afternoon. Munkus came home early from work which meant he could referee any scuffles that broke out among the kids and I could continue chatting on the phone and reading.

Then for dinner we met up with Meredith and her family at Tepanyaki. Babs, Quay, and MungBean were very excited about it after my description of the dramatic cooking show that was in store for them. I think the girls found it a little more wild than they were expecting and I can't say they loved the food. Quay's favorite part was seeing the fishtank and Babs liked the chopsticks. However, MungBean LOVED it all! He ate everything we put in front of him and hollered for more and more. I also loved it and ate everything that was put in front of me. Yum! Then we headed across the street to another McDonald's with a playplace where the kids played and played and played and we ate ice cream. It was a very fun evening!

I had lots of calls and drop-bys from family, friends, and neighbors wishing me well and I felt very loved. What more could I ask for? Thanks everybody!!! It was a great day!
