All You Civil Engineers Out There, This One's For You

I know she's smart, but I didn't expect QuayQuay's intelligence and vocabulary to outstrip mine before she entered Kindergarten. Nevertheless...

The kids and I were riding in the car recently and Quay wasn't thrilled about the situation. I was pointing out interesting sights to get her mind off her sadness. It's always a thrill to see construction vehicles at work, so I was really excited as I began the following conversation:

Me: Look guys! A crane!
Quay: Where?
Me: Right there!
Quay: Where? I don't see it!
Me: (starting to get frustrated) Right there, Quay. The crane right in front of us. See it? It's digging!
Quay: I don't see it!
Me: How can you not see it? It's right there!!!
Quay: (at the top of her lungs, and if you know QuayQuay you know what this sounded like) That is NOT a crane! That is a TRACK HOE!!!!
Yep. It sure was.
And then, just a few days later, we saw this:

...and Quay said, "Look, Mom, a crane. A real crane!"

haha! That's too funny. And just wait, you'll enter a whole new phase of vocabulary as your boy gets bigger! (hint: there are more types of "tractors" than you ever imagined!)

In my defense, I really do know the difference, it was just a slip of the tongue. But she is still probably smarter than me.
