Living in the Moment

The girls have been asking to go on a hike for over a year now. I don't know where they get these ideas as Munkus and I are anything but outdoorsy. For several weeks now we've been trying to figure out a time when we could actually go on a hike but either schedules or weather has interfered every Saturday for the last 3 months. But finally, yesterday, we found ourselves with a blissfully free morning and beautiful mild October weather so we hit the road. The kids, all three, were thrilled when we told them where we were going. (Yes, even MungBean cheered along with his sisters.) Naturally we forgot the camera. Luckily, Munkus's cell phone takes decent downloadable pictures. And somehow, he didn't get a single call or text message the entire time we were out enjoying nature. That was nice. :)
It really was a gorgeous day. And we found the perfect "trail": nicely paved, winding along the canyon next to a burbling brook, right next to a sheer cliff face going straight up to the peak of the mountain. When Babs asked why we weren't going to hike all the way to the top, we pointed at that sheer cliff and explained about rock climbing gear and how we didn't have any and she was content with our stroll through the woods.
Because of the beautifully paved road, we were able to bring along the stroller, but MungBean couldn't resist doing some walking too. He loved it.
I'm so glad we got the chance to enjoy a lovely morning as a family. We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place. I'm not saying I'm turning into an outdoorsy type, but I really liked our family hike.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN FEEDING THAT BOY? Growth horomones? Steak? Holy cow! He isn't a baby anymore. You really need to come visit. I think your hike has inspired me. Maybe that is what we will do for FHE tonight. Oh, by the way, where is your 4-4 picture? I'm waiting!

looks like lamb's canyon. is it? So beautiful. We went up a couple weekends ago and my camera battery was dead. :-( The colors are sooo yummy. I just love fall! Glad you had a nice time! It's so great to be able to enjoy nature as a family.

Actually, MungBean loves steak, but his dad and I aren't very willing to share most of the time. I can't believe he's so big, either!

So pretty! It looks like the perfect day. Yes, people have called me and actually asked me if I know if Munkus is home at that moment. Sad--I know.

MungBean does look so grown up in that picture. He looks like a little boy now, crazy. I'm so glad you guys had a great time in the great outdoors.
